1. AIDS का फुल फॉर्म “Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome” है।

2. HIV का फुल फॉर्म “Human Immuno Deficiency Virus” है।

3. AIDS का रोग HIV विषाणु(Virus) के संक्रमण से होता है।

4. आपको शायद ही पता होंगा की HIV संक्रमण होने के बाद AIDS कि स्तिथि तक पहुचने में और लक्षण दिखने में 8-10 साल या ज्यादा समय भी लग सकता है यानी की कई सालों तक तो रोगी को पता ही नहीं चलता कि उसे आखिर हुआ क्या है।

5. विश्व एड्स दिवस 1 दिसंबर को मनाया जाता है। सबसे पहली बार यह 1 दिसंबर 1988 को मनाया गया था।

6. AIDS का अंतर्राष्ट्रीय चिन्ह लाल रिबन है जो 1991 में अपनाया गया था।

7. AIDS चार शब्दों से बना है। वो है – Acquired = जो आप ने प्राप्त किया, Immuno = शरीर की प्रतिरक्षा, Deficiency = कमी और Syndrome = संलक्षन। इसका सीधा अर्थ यह है कि वह रोग जो आपके शरीर की खुद की रक्षा करने की क्षमता को कम कर देती है।

8. इसी प्रकार HIV भी चार शब्दो से बना है – Human = मानव, Immuno= शरीर की प्रतिरक्षा,Deficiency =कमी और Virus = विषाणु। मतलब वह विषाणु जो किसी शरीर के अंदर उसकी रक्षा करने की शक्ति को कम करे।

9. दुनिया में 7 करोड़ लोग AIDS से पीड़ित हो चुके है जिनमें से 3 करोड़ 40 लाख लोग इसकी वजह से मारे भी जा चुके हैं।

10. आपको यकीन नहीं होंगा की वर्तमान समय में दुनिया में लगभग 4 करोड़ लोग AIDS से पीड़ित है।

11. जिनमे से 2 करोड़ 10 लाख टीनएजर्स है यानी जिनकी उम्र15 साल से नीचे हैं।

12. आपको शायद ही मालुम होंगा की HIV वायरस अफ्रीका में उभरा और 10 साल के भीतर ही पुरी दुनिया में फैल गया।

13. दुनिया में AIDS के 65 प्रतीशत मामले अफ्रीका के “सहारा” में है। इनमें से 90% बच्चे हैं।

14. स्वाज़ीलैंड नामक एक देश में ऐड्स का इतना प्रकोप है कि वहाँ एक 15 वर्ष के लड़के की 50 साल जीने की संभावना 28% है और लड़की की 20% मगर AIDS से पहले यह संभावना 92%और 97% थी।

15. सन् 2011 में लगभग 25,00,000 लोग एड्स से प्रभावित हुए जिनमें से 17,00,000 की मौत हो चुकी है। यह आंकड़ा साल दर साल बढ़ता चला जा रहा है।

16. एक सर्वे के मुताबिक अमेरिका में लगभग 11,00,000 से भी ज्यादा लोग HIV से पीड़ित है और इनमें से 18.1 प्रतीशत को यह भी नही पता की उन्हें यह बिमारी हुई है।

17. आपने कभी सोचा है कि इंजेक्शन में इस्तेमाल की जाने वाली सुई एक ही बार क्यों इस्तेमाल कर के फेंक दी जाती है नहीं पता तो हम बताते है क्योंकि HIV वायरस कमरे के तापमान (25℃) पर भी सूखे खून में 10-15 दिन तक जीवित रह सकता है।

18. HIV वायरस 60℃ से ज़्यादा तापमान में जीवित नहीं रह सकता।

19. दुनिया में हर रोज़ करीब 900 बच्चे HIV वायरस के प्रभाव में आते हैं। यह आंकड़े ज़्यादा भी हो सकते है।

20. साउथ अफ्रीका में HIV के सबसे ज्यादा 59,00,000 मामले सामने आये है।

21. बोत्सवाना(Botswana) अफ्रीका का ही एक देश है जहाँ AIDS के कारण एक औसत व्यक्ति का जीवन काल 65 साल से घट कर 35 साल रह गया है। ज़रा सोचिए कि ऐसा हाल अगर सभी देशों का हो गया तो हम कितने साल जिएँगे?

22. HIV से संबंधित सबसे सरल सिद्धांत को “Hunter Theory” भी कहा जाता है। इसके अनुसार 1930 के दशक में अफ्रीका में किसी व्यक्ति को पीड़ित बंदर ने काट लिया था और उसने बंदर का माँस खा लिया था जससे वह HIV पीड़ित हो गया। इसके बाद सेक्स संबंधों कारण यह वायरस फैलता गया।

23. अफ्रीका की कुल जनसंख्या में से दस प्रतिशत से ज्यादा लोग एड्स पीड़ित हैं। यहाँ हर रोज एड्स के कारण 4300 लोग मरते है।

24. एड्स पर बनी पहली हॉलीवुड फिल्म का नाम “एंड द बैंड प्लेड ऑन” था।

25. बिल्लियो को भी एड्स के समान ही एक बीमारी होती है, जिसे FIV कहते हैं।

26. भारत में एड्स का पहला मामला सन् 1986 में चेन्नई में सामने आया था।

27. AIDS अब तक सबसे ज्यादा पढ़ी जाने वाली बिमारी है। और फिर भी इसका कोई पुख्ता इलाज नहीं है।

28. ग्रीस में HIV होने के शक में पुलिस आपको गिरफ्तार भी कर सकती है।

29. कई बड़े- बड़े साइंटिस्टस् ने AIDS को सबसे घातक बीमारी में से एक माना है।
